Hazelnuts: Political situation drives up prices

ORDU. The appreciation of the Turkish lira has caused the prices to rise in the export market. Buyers meed to expect significant price differences for the new crop.

 

Decisive factors
Last week's improvement of the politcal climate between the USA and Turkey caused the Turkish lira to considerably gain in value. The decline in the inflation rate from 18.7% to 15.7% also caused the currency to climb to the highest level seen since April.

Market players are, however, not yet reckoning with a turnaround. Consequently, the lira remains an important factor in the pricing for the new crop. The possible intervention by the TMO and the crop size will also be decisive and the prices on offer for the new crop vary accor
