ORDU. Although demand on the Turkish hazelnut market leaves much to be desired, both commodity and export prices have continued to rise, with supply bottlenecks providing sufficient support. Ferrero's offer is still eagerly awaited.

Inflation remains a problem

Turkish traders continue to struggle with very high inflation. According to the independent inflation research group ENAG, it stands at around 65% annually, while official government sources put it at 30%, which, according to market players, does not correspond to market perceptions and developments. Prices for Turkish hazelnuts rose again last week, even though there is little trade taking place. Farmers and stockists are trying to avoid losses. In-shell hazelnuts are now back at TRY 320/kg, with some Levantine qualities still available
