ORDU. With demand for hazelnuts at an all time low and Turkey’s economic situation turning from bad to worse there is only one way for the market to turn. Common sense does not, however, necessarily prevail for hazelnuts and prices tend to follow their own dynamics.

Against all reason

Opinions are spilt over the current offers for the new crop. While some suppliers are taking enormous risks by issuing low prices, others are urging the market to caution. Issue is that it is basically impossible to tell which way the market may turn as there are simply too many different factors to consider. Not only is it the current season drawing to a close, but the government is also implementing measures to curb inflation that spell disaster for the entire supply chain.
