ORDU. Ferrero has issued a ridiculously low offer for hazelnuts. Supplies are very much constrained with prices still on the rise. Exports have witnessed an alarmingly slow start to the season.

Ferrero issues futile offer

Unchanged from previous weeks, prices have continued to climb to new highs. Big news is that Ferrero has finally acted, albeit with no success. On Friday, the market giant issued a purchasing offer to its five main suppliers for 40,000 mt of in-shell hazelnuts at a price of TRY 260/kg (USD 6.29/kg). All suppliers rejected this offer. Ferrero’s bid was evidently too low. Despite initial expectations that the market would stabilise soon, price again started climbing on Monday and have now reached TRY 320-340/kg (USD 7.74-8.23/kg).
