Hazelnuts: watching out for Ferrero and flower counts

ORDU. Ferrero may enter the market for hazelnuts very soon and the first flower counts are about to start for the 2026 crop. High costs are driving sentiments. Demand is leaving much to be desired.

Reports from this week’s Gulfood fair in Dubai showcase that price developments have understandably prompted some confectionery producers to replace hazelnuts with other nuts. Yet, local demand for Ramadan is good in Turkey. News to watch out for is that Ferrero may enter the market in February and purchase kernels. This could prompt a temporary price rise, which the market will, however, not be able to sustain unless there is a considerable recovery in demand.
