Utilization of the land.

The government has decided to utilize the unused land for setting up fruit farms.

The project will start with a farm on 810 hectares unused piece of land. This is part of a mega project named as ’Horticulture Development in Paschimanchal Districts’. Five districts forming the western region of the state are part of this project – Bankura, Purulia, Paschim Medinipur, Birbhum and West Burdwan.

This project is beneficial to the farmers as it will help them with an increase in their income and the utilization of an unused land will be put into use for growing fruits.

Among the fruit trees that will be planted are mango, mosambi (sweet lime), pomegranate, guava, orange, plum and custard apple.

The farmers who have agreed to plant fruit trees in these plots of land would be given all forms of assistance by the state government including selling the fruits outside the state.
