Macadamias: demand could be better

VANCOUVER. Authorities are cracking down on illegal dealers in Kenya. Suppliers are not quite satisfied with the international demand situation for macadamias.

Crackdown in Kenya

As KBC, the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, reports the Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) is currently cracking down on unlicensed dealers and processors in Kenya. Intention is to protect farmers, reduce theft and maintain quality, on which much depends for exports. New crop shipments started this month. In South Africa and Guatemala exporters will start shipping the new crop a bit later, in May and June.
