Millet: sowing in Ukraine is lagging behind

KYIV/DALIAN. The sowing of many agricultural commodities in Ukraine is slower than last year. This also applies to millet. Meanwhile, Chinese traders have significantly reduced their prices.

21.6% less area sown

In Ukraine, sowing is progressing more slowly in many areas this year. So far, just 2,900 hectares of acreage have been sown with millet, which is 3.8% of the planned area. This time last year, 3,700 ha, or 4% of the total 85,000 ha, had already been sown.

There are still sufficient stocks available on the Chinese millet market, but the warmer temperatures are reducing demand at the domestic and overseas markets. As a result, growers have lowered their prices in recent weeks and export prices for hulled millet have seen a noticeable down
