Peanuts: availability depends on variety

NEW DELHI. While sufficient peanuts of the Bold type are still available in Indian warehouses, the situation is quite different for other varieties. The acreage is expected to be larger this year and farmers are expecting good yields.

Stable prices in India

On the Indian peanut market, three main factors are currently keeping prices stable. Firstly, heavy rains in the past week have reduced arrivals, especially in Gujarat; as a result, there are noticeably less goods available, which is supporting prices. The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED) has also reduced its deliveries, as the stocks are from the 2021 crop and there is virtually no buying interest in them.
