NEW DELHI. Traders in India are hoping that the market situation for peanuts will finally turn their way. International trade is fraught with challenges.

Hoping for more attractive prices

While the peanut prices have surged to unattractive highs in India in recent months, the situation may be about to change. One driver is that government agencies are expected to liquidate stocks at lower prices in further auctions. In addition, fresh inflows will commence at the end of June meaning that the time for the government to sell the massive stocks it holds is limited. Chances are that prices may get slashed by 12% to 15%.

Export demand is also minimal due to the ongoing conflicts and the prices for Java 50-60 count
