Peanuts: USDA expects production to decline in 2019/20

BISMARCK/NEW DELHI. According to the US Department of Agriculture, the global peanut crop in 2019/20 is expected to decline by 2.2% compared to the previous year. At the same time, production is expected to rise by 3.2% in the USA.

USA and China harvest more
At mt 44.99 million mt, global peanut production is expected to fall by 2.2% year-on-year in the 2019/20 marketing year. Production is predicted to increase in large growing countries such as China, India and the USA, while the crop in Nigeria is expected to be around 21% smaller than in 2018/19. Production in Argentina is also expected to decline by 5.3%.  Unfavourable weather conditions had delayed the harvest process but now farmers are back at work.
