Pecans: The EU is the leading import market

REUS. The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) is repeatedly stressing the need to invest in new markets. In addition, the global production estimates have been revised and trade is booming, despite the Chinese sanctions on US pecans.

Surplus supplies expected

Although global production is expected to decline by nearly 2% to 292,450 metric tonnes in 2019/2020, the INC expects an oversupply in future since production is growing at a 33% faster rate than demand. Oversupply is expected to amount to as much as 15% within the next ten years. The industry has therefore been called to action to stimulate demand.
