GAZIANTEP. First projections for the 2026 crop are circulating for pistachios in Turkey. Export demand is very low. The risk of war in Iran is impacting sales in Turkey.

Production to bounce back

Turkey is in the fortunate position of following an anti-cyclical biannual production pattern for pistachios. While the USA and Iran will be witnessing an off year when the trees bear less fruit in 2026, Turkey will experience a rise in production. In 2024, the most recent on year, production exceeded a record 400,000 mt and put Turkey on the map as serious supplier. Things have been different this season with production contracting below 200,000 mt and prices deemed too high to play a serious role in the world market.
