Pistachios: chasing records is not quite so clever

TEHRAN/FRESNO. With California chasing records pistachios may soon experience a supply glut. Cautions prevails over this year’s crop. Iran’s exports to the EU have gained again.

Chasing records in California

California continues to chase records this season. Not only are crop receipts 68% up on last year at a record 1.49 billion pounds but year-to-date exports have also nearly doubled on last year by reaching 509 million pounds in September to January. At 105 million pounds domestic shipments, however, range 2% lower than last year’s 107 million pounds. This brings total shipments to 614 million pounds this season so far.
