BRUSSELS. Noted shifts have taken place in shipments to the EU, where imports reached a record high in 2025. Kernels are still in high demand.

EU imports near EUR 1.5 billion

EU imports rose to a record high 172,957 mt worth EUR 1.48 billion (USD 1.74 billion) in 2025. This marks a 14% uprise in terms of volume and a 32% surge in terms of value on the 151,821 mt worth EUR 1.12 billion (USD 1.32 billion) imported in 2024 . With a market share of 89% in terms of volume and 79% in terms of value the USA hold a near monopoly as EU supplier.
