REUS/TEHRAN. In the Global Statistical Review for pistachios the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) has issued more upbeat estimates for global production. Turkey is, however, the sole driver. The current supply situation is not quite what buyers would wish for. Prices have taken a rather moderate turn in Iran.

Sole driver Turkey

While the initial total in-shell production estimate for 2024/2025 stood at 1.152 million mt in May, the figure has now been revised upwards to 1.155 million mt, which is also 8% up on last year’s 1.07 million mt. Sole driver is Turkey as the country’s record production far exceeds the initial estimate of 400,000 mt. The quality of the crop is good and the only downside according to the INC is that the average kernel size is smaller. Total supplies also range 5% higher than last season at 1.319 million mt.
