Millet: Buyers in Germany mainly purchase in France and Austria

KIEV/FRANKFURT. Production prospects are highly promising in the Ukraine. Prices, however, differ greatly.

New crop from 0,70 EUR/kg

Sowing in the Ukraine has so far been completed on an estimated 65,000 hectares. This exceeds the intitial expectations of 58,000 hectares by far. Last year, acreage ranged much lower at 42,000 hectares. Hulled millet is trading in a range of EUR 0.70 to EUR 0.95 per kg DDP Germany for shipments in October. By contrarst, the supplies from last year's crop are very much limited. Here, buyers have to reckon with prices of EUR 1.10 to EUR 1.15 per kg DDP Germany.
