GUJARAT. Exporters in India are assessing their chances for the Korean tender, which is to start on 4 December. The country is confronted with a possible record-breaking cyclone season this year. Traders, in addition, report quality issues.

India does not stand a chance in the tender

Market players agree that the exporters in India do not stand a chance in biding for the Koran tender. India is only expected to receive a limited amount of orders in the tender, which is placed over 6,600 metric tonnes of white sesame seeds. Shipments from Asia are to arrive in Korea by 31 January and from Africa by 29 February. Problem is that the exporters in India are unable to compete with the low prices in Africa.

Prices give way

India has so far been hit be seven cyclones this year.
