AYDIN. As numerous release orders are being made early, some factories will temporarily have to shut down once the current orders have been processed.

Provisional increase in exports

According to market players, the increase in exports last week was due to buyers bringing forward many of their release orders. Turkey shipped a total of 1,471 metric tonnes of dried figs and fig products overseas last week, compared to only 993 metric tonnes in the same period last year. Reportes state that companies that have completed their orders are closing for the time being. There are virtually no new orders.

Pessimistic view of the future

As everywhere else, the number of Covid-19 infected people in Turkey is growing rapidly. New measures are announced daily by the government to slow down the spread of the virus and to calm the economic situation. For example, tax payments and the repayment of bank loans are being deferred. Many market players are very pessimistic and the markets are extremely calm.
