NEW DELHI. Traders in India are currently informing overseas buyers that trading has been suspended over the next few weeks.

All trading activties have been suspended

India's 21-day lockdown has brought all trading activities in the sesame seed market to a complete standstill for the time being. The markets are closed and operations have been stopped in the ports. Some optimistic traders are, nevertheless, promising their customers that they will be able to ship in four weeks. Prices have remained relatively stable in India so far. The news from India has sparked a rise in demand in Europe, notably for sesame seeds, cashews and spices.
