BEIJING/MOSCOW. The currently very high prices for Russian raw materials are deterring Chinese pine nut traders from buying. They are relying on the high probability that prices will be significantly lower at the end of September.

Traders speculate on declining prices

Following the start of the harvest in Russia, raw material prices there remain at a comparatively high level of RUB 200 per kg (around EUR 2.27 per kg). The still small quantities of new crop are therefore primarily going to the domestic market. Russian market players expect a good quality crop, and the size of the kernels should also be satisfactory.
