Hazelnuts: carry-over stocks weigh on market

ORDU. Farmgate prices are fastly approaching the levels hazelnut producers in Turkey desire. Last year's carry-overs, however, create a greater price variety for preparations.

Sufficient supplies on the market

Farmgate prices have again risen to TRY 24.00/kg. In some cases, prices of up to 24.50 TRY/kg were quoted last week. This has restrained demand in Europe. The same cannot, however, be said for hazelnut preparations. Since carry-overs range at 80,000-100,000 mt exporters can bridge the time until prices start to decline again later in the season.
