Pistachios: monthly exports hit record

TEHRAN. Iran’s monthly pistachio exports have hit a record in September. Prices are highly attractive and have boosted a 4.4% rise in exports over August. The market has, nevertheless, witnessed considerable fluctuations.

Sharp rise in exports

Iran shipped 10,336 mt overseas between 22 August and 22 September, which is a 208% surge over the same period last year, when exports ranged at 3,359 mt. Shipments also range 4.4% higher than the volumes of 9,899 mt exported in July-August. A similar peak was last witnessed in August-September four years ago, when exports climbed to 6,224 mt. Of the 10,336 mt exported in August-September this year, 7,346 mt were open pistachios, 1,197 mt closed and 1,429 mt kernels, 65 mt green kernels and 209 mt were other varieties.
