MADRID/SACRAMENTO. Market players in Spain are highly dissatisfied with developments in demand and price. They are calling for higher import tariffs for US almonds.

Dissatisfaction grows

Christmas trade is falling well short of expectations and anti-coronavirus measures are not exactly boosting demand in Spain. Prices remain low. On top of this, US arrivals are adding pressure to the European market and spot market prices for California almonds are declining.
