Almonds: global production estimated at 1.68 million mt

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) reckons that global almond production will rise by 16.5%. At the same time, US exports are highly encouraging. Producers in Spain are, however, pushing for higher tariffs on US almonds.

US production falls short of expectations

In recently released estimates the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council anticipates a record season. In addition to the top producing countries such as the US, Spain and Australia production has also risen sharply in many other countries such as Turkey, Iran and Tunisia. Global production is estimated at 1.68 million mt, nearly 17% more than in 2019/2020.
