Almonds: bumper crop expected in Australia

MADRID/CANBERRA. Although Australia is reckoning with a bumper crop this year, any sharp rises in prices are currently out of the question in the international almond market. Spain has meanwhile officially confirmed inshell production estimates.

Spain confirms uptick in production

Agricultural media in Spain report that in shell production for 2020 has been officially confirmed at 352,744 mt, which is a nominal rise over the 340,421 mt produced in 2019. Production of other nuts has, by contrast, declined in Spain. Hazelnut production is 58% down, chestnut production 37% and walnut production 19%.
