NUR-SULTAN/OTTAWA. Kazakhstan's Bureau of National Statistics (NBS) has recently issued the flaxseed production estimates for 2020. These official estimates, however, exceed expectations by far.

Estimates differ

NBS estimates that around 1.06 million mt of flaxseed were harvested in 2020/2021. As the are sown increased by 100,000 ha production is up on 2019, although yields were lower. The estimates issued by the Kazakh Grain Union are, however, much more modest.  The area sown is only estimated to have risen by 20,000 ha, but yields are reckoned to be higher. Production here is rather estimated at 733,000 mt without dockage.
