MANISA. This week's springlike temperatures may enhance flowering in the vineyards in Turkey. Growers are advised to take precautionary measures against extreme weather conditions over the next two months.

Flowering may start early

Daytime temperatures currently range at 20C in Turkey. Although nighttime temperatures around freezing have been forecast, the warm weather may speed up flowering. Voices stating that the sub-zero temperatures observed in recent weeks may cause flowering to only start in two weeks have, however, also been issued. Growers are, nevertheless, urged to take precautions against possible damages caused by nighttime frosts and other weather conditions in spring.
