Hazelnuts: new snowfall stirs panic

Exports 60,000 mt short on last year

Although export sales nominally revived in Turkey last week, overseas shipments fall well over 60,000 mt short on last year as Turkey has only shipped around 170,000 mt of hazelnuts without shell overseas this season so far. Some domestic transactions have, nevertheless, been concluded due to Ramadan, which starts in mid-April. 

Negotiations are rather difficult at present for contracts covering the next few months and the new season. As the pandemic is promoting a high degree of uncertainty many buyers prefer
