Hazelnuts: shift in attention to prompt buying

ORDU. As many buyers in Europe enjoyed are prolonged Easter break, the recent revival in demand for hazelnuts was cut short. With attention shifting towards this year’s crop and speculations as to the TMO’s intention of intervening in the market, the situation may, however, change soon. Market prices have also taken a rather surprising turn.

Stubbornly firm prices

Prices have, in fact, remained stubbornly firm considering that the growers have started selling their supplies. Market players rate this as a sure sign that frost will not provide any danger any longer. In addition, the current interest rates certainly render it more attractive for growers to sell their nuts and have cash in their accounts than to keep their supplies stored.
