Dried apricots: risk of frost persists

MALATYA. Nighttime frosts have again been forecast in Turkey, which may hit the apricot trees at a critical stage. Prices, meanwhile, remain historically high.

Ramadan slows down trading

Trading is largely subdued with Ramadan starting and a revival is highly unlikely in the next few weeks. Exporters are seizing the opportunity to process existing contracts. Attention is centred on the development of the trees. Flowering is nearly over and fruit sets are starting to form. Nominal frost damages already occurred two weeks ago and a new cold snap would have an adverse impact. Risks are high in April.
