Raisins: low demand despite attractive prices

… around 4,500 ha of vineyards. Around 12,000 mt of raisins are grown there, 35% of the grape crop is marketed as table grapes. Success or failure of the annual production here depends mainly on the weather in spring and autumn. Meanwhile, the Agricultural Organisation of the neighbouring North Khorasan Province reports that local raisin production is around 18,000-25,000 mt per year, of which 7,000-10,000 mt are of the Shirvan grape variety.
