Sultanas: production estimates spark controversy

MANISA. The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) anticipates a 3.4% rise in global raisin production in 2021/2022. The production estimates for Turkey have, however, stirred some controversy. Traders have reacted swiftly.

Global supplies hit 1.5 million mt

Production is expected to rise in most countries with global production climbing by 3.4% on last year to 1.297 million mt. High carry-over stocks should drive up supplies to nearly 1.5 million mt in 2021/2022. Contrary to expections, production will range on a similar level as last year in Turkey. Last year's production estimates have been revised upwards for the country.
