Pumpkin kernels: tough negotiations over seeds for Shine Skin sowing

BEIJING. They way seeds for sowing are selling in China's pumpkin seed market is in line with expectations for the new crop. Prices are firm, nominal fluctuations excepting.

Preparations for sowing are underway

Growers in China are getting ready to sow. While market players report that selling Shine Skin seeds for sowing is rather difficult, GWS seeds are selling much better. Issue is that GWS prices were much more attractive this year and sowing is expected to rise. Government subsidies for corn and soybeans should, however, prompt pumpkin seed sowing to decline in Xinjiang.
