Pumpkin seeds: farmers tend towards shine skins

DALIAN. Looking at seed company sales, Chinese growers seem to be leaning much more towards growing shine skins than GWS kernels this year. Meanwhile, prices are continuing their downward trend.

Shine skins are ahead

Shine skin prices on the Chinese pumpkin seed market are continuing their downward trend of recent weeks. Most suppliers are reporting a lack of orders and are trying to stimulate buying interest by offering more favourable prices. Speculators, who have large quantities of pumpkin seeds, are acting similarly and are also offering their goods at lower prices. However, demand remains rather weak and market experts reckon that suppliers will not lower prices any further for the time being, but wait and see whether the market recovers in the coming
