Pumpkin seeds: GWS kernels might become scarce

DALIAN. While traders report sufficient shine skin supplies, there are doubts that the demand for GWS kernels can be met until the end of the season. Both markets saw price reductions over the course of last week.

High carry-over stocks

A downward trend is slowly emerging in the shine skin market and farmgate prices are now at CNY 17.8/kg. According to market players, the available quantity is 90,000 mt. The domestic market, where roasted kernels are particularly in demand, has supported prices in recent weeks, but buying is expected to slow significantly by the end of the month.
