Pumpkin seeds: limited organic supplies for EU

DALIAN. As the quality of the crop in Inner Mongolia is far from convincing only few organic pumpkin seeds will be grown that meet EU quality standards. Prices continue to rise.

Speculators in full control

There is no end in sight as prices continue to rise in China's pumpkin seed market. Raw shine skin kernels are trading at CNY 19/kg and GWS kernels at CNY 18.5/kg. Prices have, in fact, risen by around 10% since the lunar new year. Speculators holding most of the remaining stocks have successfully driven up the market. Although suppliers are trying to only buy what they really need, they will have to spend more in order to meet their contracts. The speculators will certainly mange to sell their supplies at higher prices. Buyers in Europe
