PEKING. Market players report that a large quantity of Chinese organic pumpkin seeds exceeds the limits set by the EU and therefore may not be imported into EU countries. Buyers are also holding back with purchasing conventional goods.

Import into the EU is not possible

The demand on the Chinese pumpkin seed market is still almost non-existent. Market players report that a lot of organic goods are waiting for buyers in the warehouses. Traders will have to focus on US buyers, as the pesticide levels exceed EU standards and therefore the goods cannot be imported into EU countries.

Prepayment makes buyers hesitate

Due to the uncertainties in the market, which are a result of the corona pandemic, some Chinese traders continue to insist on payment in advance - a demand that many buyers are reluctant to accept, so that even with conventional goods there is almost no trade. Prices are still stable last week's level. Pumpkin kernels, GWS, Grade AA currently cost USD 2.89 per kg CFR Hamburg.
