DALIAN. Prices on the Chinese pumpkin seed market are continuing their upward trend, with some varieties more in demand than others. Sales could have an impact on the acreage for the next season.

Suppliers need to stock up

As expected, prices for Chinese shine skins are continuing their upward trend. Commodity prices have risen from CNY 19.50/kg to CNY 20/kg, and export prices are adjusting accordingly. Suppliers who did not stock up before the Chinese New Year are now quickly running out of supplies and started to buy new raw materials last week to fulfil their existing contracts. Chinese market players cite this as the main reason for the current price increases.
