DALIAN. Various factors are currently supporting prices for Chinese pumpkin seeds, and the market sentiment is largely positive. Farmers' actions will prove decisive for the next season.

Lively trading activity

The Chinese pumpkin seed market remains stable and has shown little change in recent weeks, as only limited quantities of raw materials are still available. Experts at Chelmer Foods report that around 30% of this year's raw materials are still in circulation and that both producers and traders are continuing to actively stock up. This is supporting prices, which have remained unchanged since last week. They are also being stabilised by the gradual release of bank financing, which is keeping transactions going. Demand from the EU also remains stable, and as stockists are only selling their goods gradually, price reductions are currently unlikely.

Only minor fluctuations

Chelmer Foods expects that most of the remaining new crop will be purchased and stored in the next two weeks. Prices are likely to fluctuate only slightly until the Chinese New Year on 17 February 2026. What happens after that will depend primarily on the decisions farmers make for the next season and whether they expand their acreage or switch to other agricultural commodities. This will have a significant impact on market dynamics. Overall, market sentiment remains positive.
