DALIAN. Pumpkin seed sowing has been completed in the Chinese growing regions and seed companies are reporting significant growth. High freight rates pose challenges for exporters.

Good crop in prospect

Prices for Chinese pumpkin seeds are largely stable or are following a slight downward trend. Commodity prices for shine skins are currently at CNY 17-17.2/kg, compared to CNY 17.5/kg in the previous week. Market experts reckon that prices will continue to fall in the coming weeks. Speculators in particular, who own a large proportion of the remaining available goods, are offering them on the market at favourable prices, presumably in order to maintain cash flow.
