TEHRAN. Frost, hailstorms and floods have hit Iran this spring. Nevertheless, the damage is so far claimed to be limited in the raisin market.

Nominal shift in price

The Qazvin province is one of the most important raisin producing regions in Iran with annual production ranging at 40,000-50,000 tonnes. These volumes are mainly exported. Although a severe drop in temperature, frost and heavy rainfall have occurred this spring, no serious damage has been reported in the region. Prices have remained largely stable in the domestic market over the last two weeks. Exchange rate fluctuations have, nevertheless, nominally driven up prices by EUR 0.01-0.02 per kg.
