Raisins: shipments are impossible

TEHRAN. As the coronavirus has already infected at least 16,000 people in Iran and experts are warning that if the country fails to make its citizens follow guidelines the medical system will collapse the strain is also on the raisin market.

Borders are closed

Traders report that the exporters are feeling the full impact of the virus. Commercial trucks from Iran are not permitted to pass the borders to many neighbouring countries. Many countries have, in addition, prevented Iranian cargo ships from entering their ports. Customs data shows that subdued demand in China and East Asia coupled with the spread of the coronavirus in Iran have driven down exports markedly since January.
