NEW DELHI. The Indian sesame seed suppliers did not perform as well as hoped at the South Korean tender. Market participants hope that export demand will rise in the coming weeks.

India feels competitive pressure
Although Indian sesame seed traders never tire of stressing how bad the main crop 2018 was and that there is hardly any good product left in the market, prices have not risen again since the end of the sesame tender. In fact, they have even fallen slightly compared to the previous week.

Above all, African growing countries were able to score with low prices in the tender last week. Indian traders, however, hope that these suppliers will now have to raise their prices after selling high quantities of sesame seeds.
