Sesame seeds: new crops are gradually reaching the markets

NEW DELHI/ABUJA. The Indian sesame seed market is currently quiet, and market players expect it to remain like this until the end of the month. In Nigeria, the first quantities from the new crop are available, which is putting pressure on prices.

Lack of enquiries slows trade

A few weeks before the new crop is available in the market, trading activity in the Indian sesame seed market remains moderate. Market players expect largely stable prices for the whole month of October, as neither domestic nor foreign enquiries are sufficient.
