NEW DELHI/N'DJAMENA. Sesame seed farmers in Gujarat will soon start seeding the summer crop, but the drought in the main growing regions could become a problem. The next sesame seed tender is expected in a few days.

Saurashtra struggles with drought

Sesame seed farmers in the Indian state of Gujarat are preparing to sow the seeds for the coming summer crop, with the fields due to be sown at the end of February or in March at the latest. However, the prevailing drought, particularly in the Saurashtra region, could pose a problem for the crop.
