NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD. Pakistan secured a large portion of the current sesame seed tender. Severe flooding caused Pakistani growers to start harvesting early.

Pakistan secures just under 60% of the tender

The results of the current sesame seed tender are now available. The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation had put out a tender for a total of 10,990 mt of sesame seeds, which had to arrive in Busan in various packaging units by 23 November.

Pakistani exporters won more than half of the tender with 6,440 mt. India and Tanzania followed with 1,350 mt and 1,200 mt respectively. The remaining 2,000 mt are divided between suppliers from China (900 mt), Nigeria (600 mt) and Burkina Faso (500 mt).
