Sesame seeds: rain drives market up and down

NEW DELHI. Sesame seed prices were up in India last week. The market is, however, presented with an entirely different situation this week. Trading has resumed in the local markets in India.

Weather is being closely monitored

While many markets were closed in India last week due to the holidays, buying interest has revived again this week. Limited supplies, however, drove up prices sharply last week. Hulled sesame seeds with a 98% purity were still trading at USD 1,960/mt FOB India on Monday.
