Sultanas: Buyers face competition

MANISA. Less Californian raisins were exported in November than expected. Turkey has found a grateful buyer of the surplus Thompson raisin volumes, namely China.

 

China offers export opportunities

The market in Turkey is quiet and prices remain stable for the time being. Due to the good sales figures this season and the significantly lower production volume than in the last few years, prices are expected to rise after the turn of the year.

Reports states that China intends to levy import duties on Californian grapes. For Turkish dried fruit exporters, this could be an opportunity to profitably sell this year's overproduction of Thompson raisins. The prices for Chinese sultanas continue to orient towards
