MANISA. Daily purchases in the Manisa and Izmir Commodity Exchanges continue at high speed. The exchange rate fluctuations have rendered long-term contracts unattractive. Buyers are also responding to the price levels in Turkey.

Busy market

Judging by the sales conducted at the commodity exchanges in Izmir and in Manisa buying interest has most certainly increased since last week. Problem is that the exporters abstained from purchasing in anticipation of declining prices. Contrary to expectations, however, the intervention purchases by the TMO and Tariş have driven up farmgate prices in the free market. Purchases are continuing at high speed in the spot markets.
